Prof. John Wiggins is a 1973 graduate in Civil Engineering of Newark College of Engineering. His graduate education includes a Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering from the New Jersey Institute of Technology as well as a Juris Doctor degree from the Seton Hall School of Law and is currently pursuing a PhD in Civil Engineering from Rutgers University where his main area of interest is construction management. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, a licensed Professional Planner in New Jersey as well as a member of the New Jersey Bar. The American Society of Civil Engineers conferred on Prof. Wiggins the rank of Fellow in 1999.
Prof. Wiggins joined the faculty of the Department of Engineering Technology in 1993 and took over the role of Program Coordinator of the Construction Engineering Technology and Construction Management Technology Programs in 2004(?). He was asked to become the Program Director of the Concrete Industry Management Program in 2008.
Prior to joining NJIT, Prof. Wiggins served as the Municipal Engineer and Director of Public Works for several New Jersey Municipalities. He currently maintains an active professional practice in municipal engineering and is also the Chairman of the New Jersey Municipal Engineering Institute, a continuing education program designed to assist professional engineers in the practice of municipal engineering. He has served as the Chairman of that group since 1988.
When not teaching or practicing, Prof. Wiggins can be found at all Red Bulls games, where he is a season ticket holder.
